Highlight of Term 4

My highlight of Term 4 is competing and winning the Jump Jam Nationals held in Christchurch, St. Mary's College.

The experience at The Jump Jam Nationals In Churchurch was amazing winning was amazing. 

 

TV Stars!

On Friday Palmerston North College Street Normal School flew to Christchurch to compete in the Jump Jam Nationals competition! Our flight took one and a half hours. When we finally reached our destination at the Christchurch Airport, we hopped of our plane. After that we went to the Antarctic Centre, we saw tiny little penguins, they were so cute!! I wanted to hug them so bad!! 

Then the C.S.N.S. jammers meet the place we were staying at for the night and the night after that. 

The next day was Saturday. We went to the competition at 4 : 00 pm so we had some time to do make up and hair. By the time we were finished it was time to go to the competition held at St Mary's College in the auditorium. We were the last team to perform. We were last but not least. We were last and memorable. 

WE WON!!!

Our routine was 'Choco-Latte' aka: Winning Routine. 

We were so pumped that night, we also figured out that we were going to be on What Now! The performance for our routine was at 9 : 30 am, it went well. 

I WAS ON TV!! On the same day it was the school Gala, everybody was talking about how they saw me on TV.

This is Harold, Happy Healthy Harold. He's the star of Life Education Trust. Harold will teach how to treat your body and live happy and healthy as well (Tim's actually the person who goes through the body cycle(. Did you know it's bad to smoke? Well I'm sure you already knew that but if you do kids you have a big chance in having lung cancer (depending how much you have). Yes I know I'm still a kid but I'm 90% sure I will not smoke in my whole Entirely LIFE. 
It's quite important to not put bad things in your body, you don't want to end up with lung cancer. 

Did you know the sign when your kidney's telling you that you haven't drank enough water? Well if you go to the toilet and your pee is yellow then that means that you haven't had enough water, if it is clear than you have had enough water.
Tim says that you should have 8-9 glasses of water each day? I know right that's crazy. But I know you might think it is crazy but I suggest you take his advice. 

Tim travels to other schools to talk body safety and things in your body.

Visit to The Beach

In the first week of the hoilday's my Brother, Grandma, Cousin and I took a trip to A Beach (I forgot the name). My Grandma told me not to get wet, but guess what I did get wet and the beach is also really sandy (no surprise there). I had so much sand and water in my shoes, I could make a sandcastle. But on our trip to the beach was still fun. My cousin ended up collecting rocks (for no apparent reason). I thought it was worth it when I was getting wet but now I just regret it.

"Password.... millionaire business. Yes, yes, yes! This is sure to make me rich, this plan is to clever and diabolical!! He-he-he-he! He-he-he-he! Soon I'll  rule Germany", Charles (his actual name is Eugene Vixen) gloated. Eugene scrolled up and down the screen, he looked for the PacMan business. Whoa! It had millions of money, he thought this would make him a millionaire!!! "Victory is mine!", he celebrated his victory (not that it happened yet, but it will!). "You know what I nearly feel sorry for those foolish  people....Nearly, but guess what I don't care. Dummies!', he laughed with evilness, stroking his white cat. “I've been planning this plan for centuries!! Wait it's actually only been 10 years...... Anyway...". 

Piper thinks this is so exciting! But what she doesn't know she's being hacked?! Is her money just going to slip out of her hands  (or her bank account) could her reality be any more mysterious? She doesn't even know! "This is so exciting! Where could I go? Australia, America, Fiji? There is so many choices to go, or go on the most dangerous trip......A SHOPPING SPREE!", she squealed. But will she have any money to spend anyway? Do you think she will find out what is really going on? Piper took a trip to her animation studio, it wasn't a pleasant ride though, she rode a dumpster truck… But her excitement flooded her so much she didn't mind riding in a dumpster truck. But her money is doomed, and guess what… She doesn't know it. 

Piper was at her animation studio, she greeted everybody in her workplace. They wondered why she was so pumped and happy. Her boss was so curious she asked her why she was so happy. "Well... So this money competition I...I won $10 000", she explained. Her boss questioned,"How did you win so much money?'. "This person informed me that I won a competition, I told him my bank account and password, and phone number", she continued. "Do you know this person!?', he asked angrily. "No", she replied. "Are you crazy!!! This could ruin our business we could be shut down!!", he yelled. She was shocked. "No this person was different he....he was really nice, his name was Charles", she exclaimed. "That's not going to cut it! You don't know this person in real life!! YOUR FIRED FOR PUTTING OUR BUSINESS IN DANGER!!!",he shouted frantically. "But,but...". "No buts! Get out of my office immediately!", he huffed. He turned away from her. "Well! Too bad you're wrong because this person is nice I can feel it in my bones!", she yelled back. After she got fired she couldn't talk she was speechless. But judging by that she's obviously has bad feelings. 

Eugene Vixen was peacefully sleeping until a knock at the door…...Knock! Knock! “Now who would that be?”, he hid his master plans. “Charles! Hello anyone home”, Piper yelled. Eugene ( or should I say Charles ) sat sliently, Piper couldn’t hear a thing inside of the house. Oh no, she can’t know I’m here! I must hide, Eugene thought. He hid in the pitch black closet, but the closet door made to much of a noise. “Charles! Is that you? Don’t hide from me----I..I need you, or I will kick this door open right now!”, she pleaded. He replied nervously, “No you can’t I’m in the….Um bathroom”. Piper felt suspicion seep down her back like ants crawling down her back. “Well okay then I will come back later----”. Phew! He thought. Eugene got out of the closet just when he thought that she was gone. “HA! You dare try lying to me!You might not be a good man afterall! Is your name even Charles”, she asked fiercely. But all of a sudden she collasped onto the couch. “Yes, yes! You finally found that it is to late to save your money! And oh no you don’t have a job”. “Oh and my real name is Eugene Vixen” he added. Piper sank, he was right there was no way she could stop him now. How did he know she lost her job! “I’ll answer that question for you. I’m from Germany, I have my sources. You know your boss Mr. Fisher? Well he is my evil son in law. Surprised?”, he explained leaving Piper speechless. He continued, “I commanded him to fire you. You are now poor! No way to earn money, top that off you have no savings. All of your money is now in my hand. Sniff that sweet money! Heheheheheheheheheh!”, his victory was impossible to stop, or was it. “Why would you lie to me! I’m so stupid. I so mad at myself😠 Why did I tell someone my bank account! hmmm---”, Piper thought of an idea. I could delete my bank account…”What are you thinking about? OH and yes you are pretty stupid”. I admit I am pretty scared if she comes up with an idea, he thought. “Nothing”, she nervously admited. 

As quick as a flash Piper was tied up on the tippy-top of his tower. But, not in the tower the outside of his tower. Eugene’s tower was 900 metres high, she was doomed... There was TV Helicopters filming ‘Someone trapped on top of highest Tower in the world’. Piper didn’t dare looking down, she gulped and gasped for air. “Help!!!”, she screamed. Eugene ducked out of the hatch at the top of the tower. “Your money is mine! Beg Piper! Beg”, he said over the flying helicopters. “Your life is doomed, give me the keys to your house or else”. “Why do you want the keys to my house?!”, she asked curiously after she puked on a helicopter, which crashed. “Don’t you know Miss. Penelope-Von-Poor. Under your house lies a chest of tresure. Now I only going to say this once... I WANT YOU KEYS AND I WANT THEM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’, he yelled vicously. “Never”, Piper yelled back. She kicked him of the tower.

2 months later…

Eugene and Piper are in jail. The officer marked Piper as ‘Nearly Killing Someone By Kicking THem Off The Highest Tower IN THE WORLD- Punishment 4 months in Jail ’. The police officer marked Eugene as ‘Criminal Hacking Into Other People’s Bank Account And Tricking Civilians- Punishment 2 years in Jail. After the Jailor marked off the two criminals he got some unpleasant news..... "Hello this is The Jailor. Yes, yes I know Number 1673. What!! Eugene broke out of jail! Oh no.", the shocking news gives The Jailor a heart attack. He sorts a search party. "Hello this is The Jailor", the line dropped dead. "Hello!".

Adventure (Class trip) to Wellington!

On Tuesday the 22nd of September, room 10/11 took a class trip to MindLab in Petone, Wellington. The class trip was an exhilarating experience. All of us (room 10/11) had a great time at MindLab learning about robotics and technology. 

These are the activities our class did at MindLab:

- Cars (made out of; discs(for wheels) skewers, cardboard, straws, a motor and a propeller.

Netball

Last Friday my netball team went to the manawatu Ricoh Tournament, I had soo much fun. It was exhilarating. We also placed 2nd in Netball, hockey, rugby and basketball. We also won the Ricoh tournament! I'm soo glad that in soccer we came 1st our we probably not have won! Phew! 
Apparently, my school has won Ricoh 3 years IN A ROW!!!! Happy dance~~~~happy dance~~~!

On Saturday (Day after Ricoh Tournament) We played a game called 'In The Bag'. Holly and I won a special award on that day, MIP and MVP.

Term 2 Highlight

My highlight for this term was getting into jump jam and dance NZ made. 

I've also liked doing art and learning about the solar system. In our classroom we have been learning about the solar system I have been researching Saturn.

Saturn

Saturn is one of the four gas giants, there is no solid surface. Easier form- you can't stand on it. There is 4 rocky midgets, rocky midgets are able for you do stand on. Saturn is a yellowish-brown colour.

Gas Giants: Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus.

Saturn was formed like the rest of the planets, formed by a solar nebula that occurred approximately 4.6 billion years ago. Saturn has 12 rings, all made out of ice,rocks and dust. Both the Planet and rings look like solid.   

Saturn is a ball made up almost entirely of hydrogen and helium. The density and temperature changes the deeper into the planet you go, but Saturn can’t be said to have a solid surface. If you tried to walk on the surface of Saturn, you would fall into the planet, suffering higher temperatures and pressures until you were crushed inside the planet.

Saturn was name after a Roman King of Gods. 

Saturn and Jupiter rains diamonds! On Jupiter and Saturn diamonds aren't that rare at all, when the flying diamond birds reach the core of the planet they will get crushed into a liquid diamond form at heat temperatures of 1093 degrees Celsius and collect 329,000kg. It's over 100m below the surface.

Conclusion 

I chose Saturn because I think it has so much info you could explore and I like its rings.

Sophie Palmer: The cross country involves full tanks of hardcore energy, that most people can hardly discover. It was on Tuesday, I came in the 20ths. My friend came 13th. 

Pipi Mills: What do you think about the cross country?

Sophie Palmer: It was very exhilarating, but I got through it I could hardly breath thou. We went through to Year 3 to Year 6. Afterwards, PTA kindly stocked us with sausages and bread. Yummy!

Jelly Rebellious(7 years old) Did you know that my name is Jelly because I love jelly......

Did you bring any? Please!

Pipi Mills: (mother) Jelly get off my spotlight.... (Whisper....)

Mystery Of The H20

The map was clear;this is where he would find it. He just hadn't expected that he'd have to get wet. Reluctantly, he swam out to find the giant concrete circle. He looked down into it but he couldn't see the bottom. He sighed, took a deep breath, and dove in.

Pitch Blackness has overcome my eyesight, a sight of lightness morphed into a shining light source. "What is that? I asked this question to myself a billion times. Suddenly.... Boom! Something that felt like a Frying Pan hit me in the head! Falling into a deep dark sleep.....

I woke up.... "Ahh! Rapunzel!", I screamed. Oh! Nevermind it's just Evil Queen Pamula with a frying pan....."Ahh! Evil Queen Pamula with a frying pan!!!". Deep breaths.... It's okay. Jezz! Jay wake up! Pinch! "Owwww! Since when is people from fairy tales real... Hmmm. "Hi Evil Queen Pamula....So... Why am I here?". It was dark seemed like a cave, looked like a cave, it was purple it had blueprints for plans to destroy something called Atlantis? Yeah... It's a cave. A sudden move for broken silence, it was from me. I was locked against chains, interesting. "I going to get some food don't get any ideas", she commanded, when she was gone I was thinking......Why should I be scared of her? But she does have powers....... You know what I think I will let her do her thing...

Calmly, I was soaring through the fields of mudville. Suddenly…. Boosh! Something crashed on top of me…. Something large… “Ahhh! Help me! My slimy friends saved me. I stood in front of the thing, in the dark slow world. I stared into his big fat eyes. A tickling sensation went through my mind. I felt his heavy breathing amongst me, it annoyed me, it felt like he was trying to hypnotise me.... Therefore... Slap! I whacked him as hard as I could, until it fell in a deep dark sleep...

It's personal unconsciousness pleased me. I've done my job. I observed him closer and closer I thought to myself.... Man he was huge!!? But unfortunately, I hated his snoring.....

Pow! I slapped him across his face which felt like the hundredth time. I wanted to get away from him.... There was nowhere to go!  I went to go up the hill, but a thought flashed into my mind. Why is that hill there!? What's up with that?. Like a tiger, I pounced as much as I could. But to late he got up. Oh no!

He was balancing his foot right above me....

Favourite thing to do

Dancing

Dancing is a type of activity that I just can't live without, I love it. My favourite thing about it is that there's no limit in how creative you can be, and you can do nearly anything with it. I like making up my own dances. Dancing is a way of expressing yourself (we've been learning stuff about expressing/expressions this term). I take hip hop and jazz. I like turns, spins, kicks and a lot of other dance moves.

My First Archery Experience

I aimed my bow inline with the terrifying target calling my name. Nervously, I stretched the elastic beside my sensitive ear. The arrow fired through the tension of my nervousness, I made sure my fingers weren't  sitting in the wrong position. As the arrow dropped unpleasantly, at least I thought I hit the target....

In the position I was in last time. I held the arrow handle with my left hand, my two fingers closest to my thumb on the right hand were trembling while I clipped the end of the arrow to the string. I patiently waited until it sat calmly in its set formation. I strained myself on the target while aiming, taking a deep breath. I let go. I felt like my heart skipped a beat, it was like I could feel the tension amongst me and the arrow like a spy. In a flash my carefully aimed spot was accomplished, I peeked at my arrow it had hit bullseye!!! I was surprised at how easy it was, in the next couple of rounds.

By hitting the bullseye a few times made me feel prouder and prouder and more confident . I was assumed my dad was proud of me as well and my mum would. I say we’ve got to get a bow and arrow. Full stop!!!

Narrative 

The beautiful sun shimmered through the diamond chandelier, it shined gracefully into my room. I royally tip toed down the leather stairs, I mysteriously peeked at my butler. " Shelton, bring up my breakfast to my room proto, If you don't it's off with your wages", I commanded. I slid towards the stairs. My Mum and Dad waited at my door. "Hello, Mum! Hello, Dad!" I squealed giving them an enormous hug, my glamorous dress hid behind my door, they peered at it. " Yes darling it nice to see you to. Now what's this weekend darling......" Dad enchanted. "Hmmm... Party?", I guessed. "No". "Family reunion". "Noo". " Aunties birthday". "Noooo", he started bored. I'd kept on guessing. Finally, he cracked. "The Ball!!", he exclaimed. No, this can not be happening... I know I live in a mansion and rich and spoiled and everything be I'm not Cinderella! Marriage is out of the question. "Oh today I've got to....", I stammered. "Umm... Clean the attic out... Haha!", I finished. Knock! Knock! Yes breakfast that'll change the subject. 

" Okay dear but if you are, clear out the old piano with no top, would you? The last you tried playing you broke the windows", by then Shelton was in the room. 

"Yum! Thanks for the dinner Mum and Dad, you know I love snails.", I exclaimed. "You're the best". "We know darling". "As you said this morning darling something about cleaning out the attic.....", my Mum reminded us. Great what have I put myself into!? "So are you thinking about getting me a poodle", I tried to change the subject. Slowly, I stabbed my fork into the yummy, divine, squishy snails. Flash! The lights had turned of. There was no sight of my Dad or Mum. Then, some spotlights went on my mum and dads seats. They were gone. "Seriously, Dad did you forget to pay the electron bills". Bang!

"Wha! Wha! What happened", I screeched. "Mum! Dad!". The old grand piano had dropped from the attic.... The lights flicked on then off. I saw a figure. A shadow. I seemed the figure going down the stairs. "Why did you ruin taco Tuesday!, the figure spoke. "I'm sure I didn't mean to! Wait what". I had recognized that voice before. "Harris!', I broke. Arghh! I can't believe my little brother pranked me again! I was so frustrated. Piano sounds started. The old piano is lying smack in the middle of room, the lights were on. " Harris you don't have try creeping me out cause I'm not buying it." Buying what", he spoke.  I sighed. I turned around to get towards the stairs. Whoosh! The old piano moved in front of me, by itself. "Ahh!", I screamed. "Ahh!", a scream I could hear a little bit clearer, I was in my bedroom. I was in my bed. I saw old walls and broken floors. "Where am I". I felt a little bit weird. "Your home dude", Harris answered. I was dreaming?!

Camp Procedure- How to have a succesfull camp

How to have a successful camp- green pastures

Equipment List

Gear ( everything you need)
Camp activity groups (make sure you know what group you're in)
Bedding
Transport
Survival skills (Spiders, bugs, Burma trail)
Step One: Before anything you should have transport groups,
To get there and back. Before you go...
Double check you have the right gear,
Especially Enough pair of underwear......
And clothes that will obviously get muddy. When you're there follow this steps

Step Two: Recognize your cabin groups. You may know to chose your best Friends, remember your cabin number very important, especially if you don't want to end up in a opposite agenda.  And get sorted with your bedding, you never when Mr. Robertson or Miss Gordon is going to do dorm inspection.

Step Three: Obey the teachers, you never know if it will come in handy.
You think you know everything you were wrong.

Step Four: ( you would do a few things before this) Activity group time!!!
These are the activities:
Archery (my favourite)
Ready set cook ( pikelets contest )
Raft building
Kayaking
Air rifles
And team initiative course
Make sure you are in the right group.
And make sure you have fun and try your best. Go For Gold!

Step Five: There is one more thing you need to do. The mud run!
I'm sure you didn't sign up for this but be sure you have fun....
( I see it definitely mission impossible...) So good luck.

Step Six: Now I'm sure you will be ruining to have first spot for showers.

Step Seven: Sleeping- I've skipped all of the dinner and supper and stuff, cos' I'm sure you know how to eat..... Anyway, sleeping one of the hardest thing to do at camp, with dirty rusty mattresses, spider webs and bugs. Don't fear, my suggestion is try to get comfortable and if you buds are talking just ignore it's not that hard.


Step Eight: Just go with the flow in all activities no matter how hard or sophisticated it is. I won't tell you about the Burma Trail..... I don't wanna freak you out.....
